Helen West is director and owner of Solutions HR.

Helen has worked in human resources and training for over twenty years. Initially pursuing a career in hotel management Helen quickly decided it was the human resource field she wanted to specialise in and went on to manage human resource and training departments for both Intercontinental Hotels and Hilton Hotels.

Key areas of responsibility during those times included: human resource strategy, policy and procedure design and implementation, recruitment and selection, employee induction, performance management, discipline and grievance handling, employment law, absence management and learning and development.

Helen believes for an organisation to be successful human resources is not just the job of the HR department and whilst operating as a human resource manager Helen spent considerable time encouraging department managers and supervisors to take ownership for human resources within their departments and giving them the skill and knowledge to do this by designing and delivering training programmes in this field.

In 2006 after years of shall I or shan’t I Helen decided to work for her self as a human resource consultant.  Then in 2009 rather than just offering a human resource service Helen thought it would be more cost effective for businesses to offer some of those services as products.

Helen completed her CIPD qualification in 1992 and is now a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development.  Helen recently completed a Diploma in Employment Law from the University of Leicester.
